Getting Started

First things first. To have access to the lab, you must first go through the safety trainings. You’ll probably also need access to the UMD Fablab if you are going to need to go the the cleanroom. You can buy some simple supplies at the ChemStore as well. Then you will need access to Boxand the group calendars. The Box folder is where you can save presentations, weekly updates, and papers. To back up your files, don’t us Box, but instead use our group directory on the ECE server. Instructions are found below. Also, some files on lab computers are in dropbox. See below for info on how to access that.

Accessing journals while off campus

Reload button – for accessing articles off campus without going through Research Port. Drag the button to your bookmarks bar, and when you’re looking at an article you think you should have access to, click the button to get the UMD sign-in prompt.

Accessing the Group Server

The address to the first server is: \\129.2.94.31\All
Username: admin
Password: MundayLab0210

The address for the lsqt server is: \\ecefs003v.ad.umd.edu\LSQT
You must email Jeff McKinney (mckinney@ece.umd.edu) to get access to this server. Once you have been granted access the username is your full UMD email address and the password is your UMD password.

To map the drive in windows:

For Mac:
From the Finder, hit Command+K
Enter the path to the network drive you want to map, ie: smb://networkcomputer/networkshare and click ‘Connect’
Enter your login credentials and click “OK”
The drive is now mounted, but continue on to map for system reboot persistence
Now enter into System Preferences, from the Apple menu
Click on ‘Accounts’
Click on “Login Items”
Click on the + button to add another login item
Locate the network drive you previously mounted and click “Add”
Exit out of System Preferences

Accessing the Dropbox
Account Name: munday.research.dropbox@gmail.com
Password: MundayDropbox
To access dropbox, you can either go through the web app (https://www.dropbox.com) or download the program (probably easiest). The program creates a folder that is automatically synced with the server.
